Help Us Preserve History & Serve Our Community Today!

Are you passionate about preserving the rich tapestry of Hingham’s past? Do you dream of making a meaningful impact in our local community? Look no further! The Hingham Cemetery Corporation is seeking dedicated souls to join our dynamic Board of Directors.

Nestled within the lush 13-acre arboretum of the Hingham Cemetery grounds, home to storied generations and recent loved ones passed, lies the historic Ames Chapel, a gem since 1886, a site available to host unforgettable events, like our popular “Dead of Winter” Cultural Series.

We’re seeking visionary volunteers committed to our mission of nurturing and showcasing the Cemetery and the Ames Chapel as integral parts of Hingham’s present and our future. From preserving the tranquility of our grounds to fostering community connections, your passion and expertise can make a world of difference, including for the families of those very recently interred here.

Spend some quality time enjoying nature and directing the upkeep of our grounds, showcase your powers of successful grant writing, or unleash your fundraising magic – there’s a role for every skill set on our team!

Board meetings, held from 5pm to 6:30pm on the second Monday of each month except August, offer the perfect opportunity to collaborate and strategize together.

Ready to leave your mark on history? Email info@hinghamcemetery.org to explore the possibility of embarking on this rewarding journey with us.

Two town-owned monuments (the Settlers’ Monument seen on the town seal, and the Civil War obelisk) are located in the Hingham Cemetery.
